Betsy Olson
GIA Graduate Gemologist
Betsy Olson completed a 4 year business degree from the University of Minnesota, Mankato while working full time as a diamond buyer and goldsmith for nine years (1984-1992) in her family’s diamond business in Mankato, Minnesota.
Betsy then moved to Rochester, Minnesota and established her own business, Diamonds Direct in January of 1993. Betsy has completed courses in basic jewelry repair, basic diamond setting, advanced diamond setting, and writing appraisals.
Betsy has completed the following courses from the Gemological Institute of America:
Diamonds and Diamond Grading ; November, 1991
Colored Stones; January, 1992
Colored Stones and Gem Identification; September, 1992
Graduate Gemologist (GIA); November, 1992
Roy Schumacher
Business Development
Roy Schumacher earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from St. John’s University, Minnesota, and a Masters degree in Business Administration from Arizona Statue University. In addition, Roy completed a two-year Advanced Program for Directors from Harvard Business School.
In 2012, Roy became a business partner with Betsy Olson by investing in residential real estate in Phoenix and Scottsdale Arizona. Their business partnership has been successful, so in 2015, Roy joined Betsy in her business Diamonds Direct, LLC. Together, Roy & Betsy plan to take Diamonds Direct to a new level of success.
Roy enjoys reading and outdoor activities such as snow skiing and cycling. Roy currently resides in Paradise Valley, Arizona with his wife Judy.
